In 2009, Thompson announced his diagnosis of early-onset Parkinson’s Disease. Artists have come together for Team Cul De Sac: Cartoonists Draw the Line at Parkinson’s to honor Thompson, including Watterson, Garry Trudeau (Doonesbury), Stephan Pastis (Pearls Before Swine), Matt Wuerker (Politico), Pat Oliphant, and more than 150 others. Money from Team Cul de Sac book sales will benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
