This Week’s GoComics Staff Pick: Calvin and Hobbes | www.calvinandhobbes.com

This recommendation comes from our Permissions Director, Mary Sugget: My all-time favorite cartoon is Calvin and Hobbes. I started with the company just as Calvin and Hobbes was starting to take off. I was a customer service rep. for the publishing division, Andrews McMeel at the time. We’d just come out with the first collection of Calvin and Hobbes cartoons in a book. And were at the beginning of creating Calvin and Hobbes calendars.

Needless to say, we were working our delicate heinies off just trying to keep up with the demand. And, this was prior to desk top computers and email.

I don’t think there has been as complete a comic strip that’s both artistically visual and maintains such a wonderful story line as Calvin and Hobbes. There are many that come close. And those that do have their own special genre. But nothing that knocks my rocket ship underpants off quite like Calvin.
